The best known “Geneva Convention” actually references four treaties on standards and principles for humanitarian treatment in war. However, there are numerous international agreements also known as the ‘Geneva Convention.’  In international commercial law significant ones are:

• the Convention on International Transport of Goods Under Cover of TIR Carnets which is the basis for international road freight;
• the multiple Geneva Conventions on the Law of the Sea, i.e.,
  • the Convention on the Territorial Sea and the Contiguous Zone (CTS),
  • the Convention on the High Seas (CHS),
  • the Convention on Fishing and Conservation of the Living Resources of the High Seas (CFCLR), and
  • the Convention on the Continental Shelf (CCS).
