CDMA

How Multiple users Access the radio “resource” or set of frequencies allocated to each cell. In Code Division Multiple Access each user gets given a specific spreading code with which to talk to the cell. Other users get other spreading codes, so there is no interference between users. Typically CDMA is combined with another technology like TDMA or FDMA to maximise flexibility. A spreading code is a particular digital sequence chosen from a set of sequences. The set has specific properties – each sequence in the set is “orthogonal” to the others allowing a receiver to detect one sequence without interference from other users using other sequences.
