Clause in a contract that provides that a purchaser of software can see or inspect the source code as well as receiving the object code. Clauses providing for source code visibility usually restrict access to inspection at the licensor’s premises or alternately require the source code to be kept in a secure manner (e.g., on a non-networked computer, with drives and media/data transfer ports disabled). Source code visibility is usually sought when the software is to be integrated with a device or other software, so as to facilitate debugging and problem solving.
